Life of Pi, directed by Ang Lee, is a breathtaking film. It has some of the best visual effects I have ever seen in a movie. Everything looks so realistic its amazing. Unfortunately I didn’t get to watch it in 3D but it looks great in 2D too. I haven’t read the book so I don’t know how it compares but the screenplay was very well written and it gave the actors some great dialogue. Although most of the acting was done by Suraj Sharma who portrayed Pi, the movie had good performances all around. Now this might have been one of my favourite movies of 2012 if it hadn’t focused on religion as much as it did. I am not a religious person myself and even though I respect people who are I try to avoid religious movies as much as I can. Many people told me that this film featured a lot of different religions, including Atheism. It did include other religions, but It focused on Christianity. Throughout the entire movie Pi was referencing “God” too much for my liking. I personally think that this movie should have focused on the relationship between man and beast (Pi and Richard Parker) and how you should never give up hope. There was some of that but not enough. Overall this movie was good, but not one of the best of 2012. I recommend that everyone should at least watch this once for the visual effects. You will probably like it more if you are religious.
4 out of 5 stars.

Good review. There’s a lot of beauty, a lot of inspiration, and a lot to look at here, but overall, the story takes over the last-act and sort of leaves a bit of a bad taste in your mouth as you’re leaving.
Great review of the film! The religion didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would and i’m not very religious. The ending in the book is apparently much less ambiguous than it was in the film. I haven’t read the book but a couple friends told me about the ending as compared to the films ending and why they were disappointed with the movies ending.
Thanks for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it! I will definitely check out both of your blogs.
